I’m still dipping my toes into the broad-ranging and expansive content, finding what interests me and what doesn’t. This book will stir up some exciting insights about the definition of success and how one can succeed without stress. With Dr. Jose Baltazar’s “Seven Lifestyle Shifts to Live the Life We are Designed to Live,” this book will surely pay off very highly.
What makes you qualified to write this book?
My book Live a Healthy, Happy, Long Life and Prosper Without Stress for which The London Book Review is requested to conduct this review is already an International Best Seller.
I have a doctorate degree in mind-body medicine and have provided health and wellness coaching to hundreds of individuals over the past 15 years. I am also an instructor in mind-body medicine strategies for health and wellness, and have taught workshops and spoken frequently in conferences, and presented for many health programs and agencies.
I have also been a college counselor, instructor, and curriculum developer of college and personal success courses for over 40 years.
I have already written and published three books as a sole author, and have co-authored best-selling books with Jack Canfield, Dr. Wayne Dyer, and Dr. Deepak Chopra.
When did you write this book, and how is it relevant in today’s unprecedented time?
I wrote and published this book in 2021 in the midst of the Covid pandemic. My desire to help people live a healthy, happy, long, and prosperous life without suffering the ravages of stress intensified by the amounts of people whose immune system was so weak that they ended up very ill or dead from the covid virus.
I strongly believe that lifestyle was what kept people alive or ill even to the point of death. Their resistance to the virus was further weekend by the required isolation from other people and in-person events.
Surveys and research show, and frequent reports of events of violence, anger, depression and anxiety verify that people are living highly stressed lives more than ever before. Social media, the internet, and other mass media conduits aggravate the problem through information overload.
There is a high need for practical and effective common sense and easy-to-implement information and education on how to live successfully in a stressful world without suffering the health damages caused by lack of knowledge and practice of healthier and stressless lifestyles. My book addresses this need.
For over forty-four years of exercising your profession and expertise to work with students, people with mental illness, and more, what’s the most challenging part of your job?
The greatest challenge is that more than ever before, people are looking for quick answers and solutions to their effective learning and healthier living. They unfortunately seek such help until they are failing or under such high levels of stress that getting back to normalcy takes much longer. They become impatient when they find this out that many give up trying and neglect the practices and skills that would bring them back to normalcy.
Why is The Life Transformation Paradigm effective?
My paradigm of living is effective because it promotes and develops seven areas of self-care that work synergistically to create a lifestyle that grants people the results they want: Live a healthy, happy, long, and prosperous life within healthy levels of stress. The seven areas are: Relaxation and Meditation, Faith and Beliefs, Personal Vision, Awareness, Wholistic Living, Optimism, and Total Responsibility.
Can you tell us about Neuroscience and Neuroplasticity and how they connect with your model?
My model promotes systemic holistic living. The mind, the body, and the spirit (emotions) are intrinsically connected. This connection is principally managed by the brain. This is one of the main principles of neuroscience upon which mind-body medicine is founded.
I hold a PhD in Mind-body Medicine. My Life Transformation Paradigm is developed on mind-body medicine principles which are based on neuroscience. Neuroplasticity explains how the brain can heal and reconstruct itself. This is also a function of our body, and research in mind-body medicine has proven that the stronger and more efficient the connection among the mind, the body, and the spirit is, the easier it becomes for the brain and the entire body to heal and reconstruct themselves.
How do you define success?
Success for me means peace of mind, and happiness and these two states of living can better and more easily be obtained by learning to live in good health, have a satisfactory career, sound finances, and living with love and compassion. Relaxation and meditation are the doors to obtaining success without suffering the ravages of stress.
Was there a moment throughout your career that The Life Transformation Paradigm didn’t work? No. There have been many moments prior to me living according to the model. Since I started living according to the model, when I notice something is not working, I can quickly check what I’m not practicing from the model and adjust my thinking and behavior accordingly.
How much research did you need to do for this book? This book is based on my own life as well as my 50-year experience as a computer science professional, college teacher/trainer, counselor, and coach. The model is based on studies and research I have conducted in accelerated learning, and more recently in mind-body medicine. My mind-body medicine study cemented the central component of my model (relaxation and meditation), and the central belief that unless one enjoys good health, it becomes much more difficult to live happily because it becomes much more stressful to achieve dreams and goals, build healthy relationships, and get and enjoy prosperity thus the title of my book.
Do you want this book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?
This book is an introduction to the model and how to implement it in our lives. My intention and self-commitment is to write a book with more content for each of the seven components of the model. The purpose being to explain each component and its interconnections with each of the others in more depth; and include a greater set of implementation strategies for each.
How was your experience in writing this book?
It was a very fulfilling experience. I had just started to write it as the covid pandemic started. The pandemic added to my motivation of writing it because my model when adhered to, aims to develop and living a lifestyle in which levels of stress are managed holistically through mind-body holistic strategies. This means living healthier and with minimum stress which allows the individual to meet the multitude of demands of daily living without suffering the ravages of stress because their immune system is and remains strong and keeps the body and the mind resistant to disease.
